LTFRB approves P0.50 jeepney fare hike

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved a P0.50 provisional fare increase for public utility jeepneys.

LTFRB chairman Jaime Jacob said the fare hike will be effective Wednesday morning.
He said the increase will be implemented while the LTFRB hears a petition filed by different transport groups seeking for a P2 increase in the minimum jeepney fare.

Jacob said the provisional increase will stay for as long as diesel prices remain high.
He said, however, that jeepneys will be required to roll back the minimum fare once diesel prices go back to P45 per liter.

Avoid the Cinnamon Challege

The cinnamon challenge is a challenge that became an internet meme in which a person attempts to eat or swallow a tablespoonful of ground cinnamon in under 60 seconds without drinking anything. While the challenge appears to be very simple, it is actually very difficult because the cinnamon quickly dries out the mouth, making swallowing difficult. The challenge has been around since 2001, and increased in popularity in 2007.[citation needed] By 2010, many people had posted videos of themselves attempting this challenge on YouTube and other social networking websites. The cinnamon challenge continues to be an active challenge, with Twitter mentions peaking at nearly 70,000 per day in January 2012.

Safety concerns

Some have advised against performing this stunt, because it may be possible to choke on the cinnamon, or to accidentally inhale it. Due to the presence of a moderately toxic component called coumarin, which can damage the liver, European health agencies have warned against consuming large amounts of cinnamon. The usual result of this stunt is "a coughing, gagging fit involving clouds of cinnamon" which "leaves some people gasping for air".Vomiting is also a possibility. However, the risks can be worse. A high school freshman in Michigan spent four days in a hospital with an infection and a collapsed right lung. The problem is that the cinnamon can get into the lungs and block airways, causing inflammation and infection. People with asthma will be taking even higher risks if they accept the challenge.
In popular culture

The cinnamon challenge was aired on the twelfth series of reality television show Big Brother UK, in which show participants were to ingest ground cinnamon without the aid of water to swallow it; three out of the seven cast members succeeded.Radio programs have also aired segments of people performing this stunt, and others in the public limelight have been reported as airing the stunt for public display, including NBA players Nick Young and JaVale McGee.

Many people video their cinnamon challenge for YouTube, where some members earn income through a percentage of advertising fees. For example, as comedian Colleen Ballinger told the Wall Street Journal, she took the challenge in character as Miranda Sings, in February 2012, to increase her YouTube viewship after "hundreds of fans started asking her to take the ... challenge. ... Her video garnered 70,000 views after one week". Another comedienne, GloZell, has attracted more than 10 million views with her cinnamon challenge video.

The challenge has been compared to the saltine cracker challenge, which involves ingesting 6 saltine crackers (also known as soda crackers) within 60 seconds without drinking anything.

Diablo 3 goes on pre-order, coming this May 15

Blizzard has already published a pre-order site for the upcoming release of Diable 3 this coming May 15. This was a famous game back in the 90's when I was still in my High School days. We have been waiting for this for a long time now and at last a distinct date have already appeared.

Diablo 3 is free when you sign up for the World of Warcraft annual pass or you can get separate license for $90SGD (or around Php3,000).

The pre-payment allows you to download the client as early as now but you can’t still play before the May 15 launch. Visit www.diablo3.com for details.

iPad 3 Jailbroken

MuscleNerd just tweeted a screenshot of a jailbroken iPad 3, giving hope to early adopters that a jailbreak will eventually come. He did, however, warn that there is a lot of work left before this is usable by the masses, and that there is no estimated time frame for its release. New OS X 10.8 beta adds iOS-like location-based reminders

The second developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion, which was seeded to developers on Saturday, introduces support for location-based reminders in the Reminders app. In developer preview 1, users could only create due date-based reminders.

Interestingly, it appears the Mac itself will track your location when connected to Wi-Fi and alert you when you arrive at the specified location, just like an iPhone would.
The reminders can also be synced over the air to iOS devices using iCloud, meaning you can create a reminder from your computer and be reminded by your iPhone when you arrive at your destination. I don’t know about you, but I’m personally looking forward to never again walking all the way upstairs to track down my iPhone and create a reminder before I forget what I needed to do.
