Valentines Oil Price Hike

Report from Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News

OMG, Another Price increase. I have yet to fill those tanks today but I postponed it since today is my number coding. Since I had my ride, I never experienced the oil priced at P40 level. The lowest that I got was P51.95. For me to further ease the rising Oil cost and the dreadful price of the Car Park here in 1800 Eastwood, I seldom use my car to work. Even its inconvenient for us commuting, its big saving if I no longer pay for the Parking.

I wish we'll see rollbacks atleast in the P49.99 level. I'll keep my hopes on.

Exercise Called Impeach Running

I was on my regular 15 minute cardio at the gym's Treadmill when suddenly I spotted the impeachment trial on one TV. I turned my Volume Channel selection to that Television and watched the trial while walking and running. The trial somehow got my interest. I started to laugh on some actions from defense and got irritated on how the prosecution acts. I am pissed how prosecution fails from which I give the defense' allegation the credit that the prosecution is mere phishing for information.

The I started to realized that I am already walking and running for an hour now with 310 calories already burned. This time i took a short water break and then came back to walk, run and tunned to the impeachment.

After 1 hour and 40 minutes had passed watching the trial, I have burned 480 calories. This is the highest that I burned while walking and running. And Actually, this is the amount of calories I usually burn while lifting those 40-45 lbs of weghts.

I then felt tired and rested for a while. I reckoned that i had only few minutes left to lift those weights, so I rushed and do my weight lifting and then took the shower and off the gym.

This is how the impeachment got my attention. Without me knowing it I have already walk and run for an hour and fourty minutes long which never occured to me. I say if I am on endurance and toning training this strategy woks for me.

Have you watched the trial and somehow experience the same?

Anong petsa na...Valentines Day na!

Why do i feel guilty that I don't have something for my wife this Valentines Day? Maybe because she don't feel like receiving flowers and chocolates since she would want to spend the money for our kids. But how would one celebrate this day without spending much on such stuff where the law of supply and demand applies? I searched the web and found the following simple and yet quality activities:

1. Go to Church and thank God for the years that you have been together. Then head back home and grill those BBQ together.
2. Make a dinner at home and then watch a HD movie with the whole family and Pop that Microwave Popcorn. Then when your about to sleep, hand her a letter that you wrote.
3. Wake up early and prepare her a good breakfast add a flower if you desire.
4. Go pay visit to Zoo and explore what they interestingly offer. At least you gain knowledge together right?
5. Go to park and spend you remaining time watching the sun set.

Be creative and you'll see that this does not require spending more. Its the quality time you are together and not by how much and luxurious it is. Just to add note to take your camera with you so you can capture those moments and brag them on facebook.. heheheh Happy Valentines!

Excel - My Best Friend at work

This is my best friend at work. Some people know only a little with Excel and some are heavy programmers. I have been with different companies and looking at their Excel Trainings, I don't find my self taking those trainings. Its not that I already know those topics, Its just that I prefer enhancing my programming skills on Excel.

As an excel user you will be acquainted with different excel formulas. Some are very basic and some are hard to understand. Basic formula such as Sum, sumif, if, vlookup, count, countif and others are the most used formula for day to day computing. I rarely used array formula where in you need to push Ctrl + shift + Enter to have the formula applied to the cell.

I assisted one oversees client and I was thanked so much for a simple formula that I have provided in her workbook. VLOOKUP.

I am happy that I am able to help others in using Excel and now, I realized that those excel training provided by the company, even though its very basic, will be very much helpful to anyone starting to learn and use Excel. This is why I suggest everyone to take advantage of your company trainings(class, online) in regards to Excel. Excel is a useful tool to everyone and being a manager will require you to converse to excel more often.

Here are some interesting topics of for excel that i think will help you with your day to day work.

Sueldo na ba?

Hay.. ganito talaga ang tanong kapag malapit na ang araw ng sueldo... Most of the time when its a day or two away from sueldo we are almost at are empty pockets. For sure, this is the time where we have almost emptied are refrigerators, Tank fuels, Canned goods almost gone and others. I my self experience this kind of fate. Though I am not like others who are one day Millionaire when we receive our pay wages. Its just that all of our salary are already budgeted for car mortgage, credit card, Foods, helper's salaray and others. Most of the time we are confident to spend more on our credit card since its only few days away from our Sueldo. Then after we receive are salary, its time to pay those debts which in turn will lead to unexpected expense thus being out of budget.

What I intend to do now is to be still in our current standing and will continue to my day to day activities as if we hadn't have our pay wages. This will give us advantage over those days before the next date of our pay wages. We will no longer suffer the same fate as last month.

Whether you spend your salary in to new stuffs or pay your cc, my advice is to take a look on your unexpected expense as this will cause you to look forward again to your next month salary. Atleast if you have planned your expenses. you'll be happy that you are not soughing the next pay.

Monday Traffic at Marcos Highway

Its the start of the week and you would like to make thing right. I wore my Blue Long sleeve for a good outlook for the whole week. But after you go out your way for work, you are stuck at an hour long traffic. Specifically traffic around the Marcos Highway area. Its very frustrating that you left your house earlier and still recieved that traffic treatment. One of the reason is the heavy road construction making the 5-6 lane to just 2 lanes. Before there were no construction we are already receiving heavy traffic on that area, but with 2 lanes open then imagine how do you deal with that.

Another reason of the heavy traffic is the PUJ thinks they own the road. By just waving their hands outside their vehicles they think they have communicated with you already and now has the right of way. Sometimes they just turn right or left without any signals. Most of the PUJ are sort of "gahaman" in getting passengers. They never kept in their mind that doing such will cost heavy traffic.

Like the jeepneys in Ligaya whose route is Marikina-Pasig. They load their passengers exactly at the junction of Marcos Highway and JP Rizal, thus, making the 2 lane very busy and unbearable.

Hope this will be addressed soon as they finished the road construction. Lets just hope for the very best so we can look at our long weekday at the office positively.

Be Careful - Flat Tire Modus Operandi

A True Story Serve as a Warning

To the men: warn your loved ones!
To the women: remember this!

About a month ago there was a woman standing by the Mega Mall entrance passing out flyers to all the women going in. The woman had written the flyer herself to tell about an experience she had, so that she might warn other women.

The previous day, this woman had finished shopping, went out to her car and discovered that she had a flat. She got the jack out of the trunk and began to change the flat.

A nice man dressed in business suit and carrying a briefcase walked up to her and said, "I notice you're changing a flat tire. Would you like me to take care of it for you?" The woman was grateful for his offer and accepted his help. They chatted amiably while the man changed the flat, and then put the flat tire and the jack in the trunk, shut it and dusted his hands off.

The woman thanked him profusely, and as she was about to get in her car, the man told her that he left his car around on the other side of the mall, and asked if she would mind giving him a lift to his car. She was a little surprised and asked him why his car was on other side. He explained that he had seen an old friend in the mall that he hadn't seen for some time and they had a bite to eat and visited for a while; he got turned around in the mall and left through the wrong exit, and now he was running late and his car was clear around on the other side of the mall.

The woman hated to tell him "no" because he had just rescued her from having to change her flat tire all by herself, but she felt uneasy. Then she remembered seeing the man put his briefcase in her trunk before shutting it and before he asked her for a ride to his car. She told him that she'd be happy to drive him to his car, but she just remembered one last thing she needed to buy. She said she would only be a few minutes; he could sit down in her car and wait for her; she would be as quick as she could be.

She hurried into the mall, and told a security guard what had happened; the guard came out to her car with her, but the man had left. They opened the trunk, took out his locked briefcase and took it down to the police station. The police opened it (ostensibly to look for ID so they could return it to the man)... What they found was rope, duct tape and knives. When the police checked her "flat" tire, there was nothing wrong with it; the air had simply been let out. It was obvious what the man's motive was, and obvious that he had carefully thought it out in advance.

The woman was blessed to have escaped harm. How much worse it would have been had she waited in the car while the man fixed the tire, or if she had a baby strapped into a car seat. Or if she'd gone against her judgment and given him a lift.

I'd like you to forward/share this to all the women you know. It may save a life.

I was going to send this to the ladies only; but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass this messages to them, as well.
