Download Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Windows 8 consumer preview was already released sometime, we have managed to get our hands on the download links of Windows 8 consumer preview ESD files. Currently only the 64 bit or 32 bit version of Windows 8 is available for download. You won’t be able to download the ARM version of Windows 8.

Windows 8 consumer preview contains lot of new features including the much anticipated Windows Store from where you can download Apps, new set of wallpapers, lock screen, no start orb and lot more.

Windows 8 Minimum Hardware System Requirements

Windows 8 consumer preview has just been released and Microsoft has posted the system requirement for the same on official blog. The hardware requirements for Windows 8 is similar to Windows 7 and you can run it on 1 GB of RAM and 1 GHz processor. Here are the complete system requirements as posted by Microsoft-

• Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
• RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
• Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device or higher

Further to run Metro style apps your screen should have a minimum resolution of 1024*768 and 1366*768 for snap feature.

Some other new features in Windows 8 requires new requirements which aren’t available in most of the PC’s right now. Here are those features-

• Secured Boot requires a new UEFI BIOS, which is not available broadly on PCs yet, but is starting to be made available. If your machine does have UEFI, you can enable it via BIOS settings.
• BitLocker does not require but performs more seamlessly if your PC has a Trusted Platform Module(TPM). Machines that have this sometimes require it to be enabled via BIOS settings. BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive that meets performance criteria evaluated at installation time.
• Hyper-V requires a 64-bit system with second level address translation (SLAT) capabilities and an additional 2 GB of RAM. You can also enable SLAT via a BIOS setting.
• Some games and other software require graphics capabilities compatible with DirectX 10 or higher (including some games available in the Consumer Preview and in the Windows Store.

Microsoft has also posted a set of PC’s on which they have been testing internally-

• HP Elitebook 2760p convertible (Note: This PC is 1280×800 and so does not support snap.)
• ASUS EP121 tablet (Note: his PC is 1280×800 and so does not support snap.)
• Dell Inspiron Duo convertible
• Lenovo x220t convertible
• 3M M2256PW 22” display (Note: The raised bezel can make it harder to swipe along the edges)
• Samsung Series 7 slate

Lastly the post reads that you can upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 8 consumer preview, but there is no rolllback, and all those running Windows 8 developer preview can upgrade to Windows 8 consumer preview by just using the migrate option.

Steven Sinofsky now in the Race to be the Next CEO of Microsoft?

Steven Sinofsky the man behind every bit of the upcoming Windows 8 Operating System from Microsoft,could very well be in the race to become successor to Steve Ballmer the CEO of Microsoft corp.

Just a day before the launch of Windows 8 consumer preview Reuters came up with a long post suggesting that if Windows 8 becomes an instant hit like its predecessor,Steven Sinofsky holds a strong chance against the current CEO Steve Ballmer to become the next Steve of Microsoft,according to Frank Artale, the  managing director at Seattle-based venture capital firm Ignition,founded by a group of former Microsoft executives,stating that  he thinks Sinofsky has both “the tech chops” and the “panache and showmanship” needed for the job.

Before getting into the Windows division Sinofsky had a successful run at the Office department,which is one of the most profitable products for the company,successfully delivering Office 2003 and 2007 gaining the reputation as a “shipper”.Then went on to the Windows division in 2006,after which he was eventually made in charge in 2009.

Though according to the critics he might not got the “charisma” or ” technical brilliance”  of Bill Gates or ” incisive analytical ability” and “forceful personality” of Ballmer,Windows 8 success would surely boost his chances of becoming the next Steve of Microsoft.

Glee Season 4 Spoiler: What’s Glee Doing with its Seniors? We Have a Clue!

Ever since Glee boss Ryan Murphy announced he’d be taking the show in a slightly different direction next season with his senior characters, we’ve all taken our stabs at guessing just what the cast and crew might mean by a “groundbreaking” and “revolutionary” storyline. Including Michael Slezak of TVLine, who has a bunch of ideas here as to what he could see Ryan Murphy having up his sleeve for next season – but here’s the kicker. One of those ideas isn’t just an idea.

“I can confirm that at least one of our visions for Season 4, as outlined by TVLine’s Michael Slezak, will be a reality next fall. Can you guess which one? Can you?!”

Could even more gay kids on this show be a reality next fall too? With new gay character, Chandler showing up soon, it’s looking like a very real possibility. And I know you Klaine fans are sweating buckets, waiting to find out if he’s an actual threat. But don’t worry, there’s some info on that:

“A Glee source assures me that the Chandler character appears in one scene, and relatively unimportant one at that. Translation: Chillax.”

For what kind of “unimportant” scene would Glee bring in a brand new character? No Mr. Ryan Murphy, that doesn’t seem suspicious at all….

Glee Season 3 Spoilers: A “Super-Emotional” Season

When last we left Quinn Fabray, the newly-inducted McKinley High cheerleader got into a tragic car accident en route to the Finchel wedding, and until recently we had no idea if she would even survive.

Spoilers since have confirmed that Dianna Agron’s character is definitely alive when Glee returns, but perhaps not so well. As seen in recent set photos, Quinn will be wheelchair-bound – although whether she has sustained any permanent injuries, we’ll have to wait until new episodes to find out. We do get to see a couple more behind-the-scenes photos though, tweeted by Life Rolls On.

“Peep @LifeRollsOn’s @BrianaWalker w/@GleeOnFOX’s @DiannaAgron as LRO athletes shot a #skate segment yesterday!”

According to Wetpaint Entertainment, Life Rolls On is “an organization that supports people with spinal cord injury by helping them participate in action sports like surfing, skating, and snowboarding”. Does this mean that it’s more likely Quinn won’t be able to walk again? E! Online reports that she does strike up a friendship with Artie (Kevin McHale) – yep, sorry Quartie shippers, it’s just as friends:

Already with the couple name? Well, that might be a bit premature because for now, Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Artie (Kevin McHale) will only find a friendship with each other. But it’ll be a special one.”

Glee‘s been quite the emotional roller coaster already, and TV Line spoils for us that it can only get more emotional from here:

A Glee insider tells me that Season 3?s final six episodes will be “super-emotional — everyone cries when they read [the scripts] — in a good, satisfying way.”

Must mean there’s a happy ending, right? Discuss Quinn, the accident, and what you’ll expect from the rest of the season in the comments – but first, here’s one final maybe-spoiler for you. John Travolta may or may not be making a special Glee guest appearance in season 3 episode 16, “Saturday Night Glee-ver”. You’re welcome.

Project : Angry Birds Goodie Bags

I created rows of Angry Birds goodie bags for kids to take home after celebrating with us at my son's Angry Birds party

Materials:

• red, green, yellow, and black goodie bags (I found these sold individually by color at a local party store)
• images for the front of the bags (the images I used are below)
• goodies for the bags
• 14" lengths of contrasting 1" wide ribbon (I used red ribbon for the yellow and black bags, blue ribbon for the green bags, and gold ribbon for the red bags)
• double sided tape
• scissors
• hole punch

First I printed out images I wanted to use on the front of the bags. I cut the images out and used doubled sided tape to attach the images to the bags about 2" from the bottom of each bag.

Then I added an assortment of goodies to the bags. My bags included a gold "egg" necklace, an Angry Birds Silly Bandz bracelet, a solid-colored pencil found from a local party store, an Angry Birds mini notebook, agolden egg squeeze ball, awooden bird whistle, and a couple of candies.

Once filled, I folded the top of each bag over about an inch, and then over again one more time before using a hole punch to make two holes (about 2" from each side) in the double fold.

I threaded pieces of contrasting ribbon through the holes from the backs of each bag...

...and tied the ribbons into simple knots. I finished the ribbons with v-shaped snips.

And that was it! I mixed the bags up to make a colorful display on a table by the door so that kids could grab them on their way out. Surprisingly, the black bags were the most popular selection...
